Dental veneers

Improve the look of your smile

Dental veneers are thin porcelain or composite resin shells applied to the surface of the teeth to correct various flaws: yellowed, broken, worn, misaligned or gapped teeth. They give you a more even, radiant and natural smile while preserving the tooth structure.

What types of veneers are there?

Porcelain veneers

Porcelain veneers are custom-made in a laboratory to fit your smile perfectly. They offer several advantages:

  • Very natural appearance
  • High stain resistance
  • Exceptional durability
  • Colour stability over time

How the treatment works:

  • Two appointments are needed
  • The enamel is lightly prepared
  • Local anesthesia is used for your comfort
  • The final veneers are bonded at the second appointment

Lifespan: On average 10 to 15 years, but they can last 25 years or more with proper care and good habits.

Composite veneers

Composite veneers are sculpted directly on the teeth, in a single appointment.

Advantages:

  • Quick procedure
  • Painless and usually without anesthesia
  • More affordable
  • Easy to repair

Good to know: They are more prone to wear and discolouration than porcelain. Their average lifespan is 5 to 10 years, but they can last longer with good care.

My teeth are crooked: am I a good candidate for veneers?

Veneers can be an excellent alternative for people whose teeth are slightly crooked and who don’t want to undergo orthodontic treatment.

How does the dentist assess your case?

  • Analysis of alignment and function
  • Assessment of the amount of enamel available
  • Discussion of your esthetic expectations
  • Check of the health of your teeth and gums

Previewing the result

Before starting, the dentist can create:

  • A wax-up (diagnostic wax model) of the future veneers
  • An in-mouth preview to show you the potential result

This makes it possible to adjust the shape, length and style of the teeth before going ahead.

Do veneers damage teeth?

The preparation is minimal and respects the enamel. The treatment is safe when it is well planned.

Do veneers change colour?

Porcelain veneers don’t. Composite veneers can stain over time.

Can a veneer be replaced?

Yes. Veneers can be repaired or replaced if needed.

Is it painful?

The procedure is generally comfortable. Porcelain requires light anesthesia; composite does not.

What results can I expect?

Veneers transform the look of your smile in a simple, quick and highly esthetic way. They correct:

  • Colour
  • Shape
  • Length
  • Minor misalignment
  • Gaps between teeth

The final result is natural, harmonious and suited to your face.
